Default Ring Bomb of the Day: Dodge Viper ACR laps 'Ring in record 7:22.1 [w/VIDEO] "Yes!"

    This is still considered unofficial.

Go to Motor Trends Web site to see the Vid.

Much Much lower quality Youtube Video

    Autoblog writes:

We're not terribly surprised that the Dodge Viper ACR has apparently made it around the famed German racing circuit faster than pretty much anything else you'll find on a dealer's lot. After all, the ACR is a race car, as evidenced by the video that Motor Trend has posted. The most venomous Viper has done the deed in 7:22, fast enough to make grown men cry. To this blogger, the Viper is dead gorgeous, even with that yucky-but-functional rear wing on the ACR, and it definitely carries the spirit of hairy-chested cars of yore. The shifter wobbles around horrendously when the driver kisses the rev limiter a few times, and there even appears to be a flubbed shift near the end, so the ACR may have faster laps left in it. We're waiting on confirmation on whether or not this is an official lap, but it's certainly creating a stir, and the Viper wants to know, V-Spec who? Thanks for the tip, Rob.

The saying used to be "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday", now it is "We Beat Everybody and i Mean Everybody at the Ring"

God I love those cars. Good to see that raw racecars are still being built for production. If that thing had paddle shifters they would be blowing everyone out of the water, wouldn't have been hitting the rev limiter so much. Racing guys correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason for doing that is he didn't have the time to be upshifting when he was going to hit a corner soon, right? So if he had paddles he could shift up and get into that monsterous torque level to help shave time off, no?

Thats bad ass, but not surprising. They sure did shave a good bit of weight, and the downforce that thing puts out is just nuts - 1500lb at 150mph or something?

That was great "Real" driving. Autoblog wrote 1 bouched gear change but it was actually 2. He missed coming out of Adenauer Forst.

How much more simple can you get?

Again. He is working to drive it and that is what most impresses me. He hasn't got an electronic 4wd system, a chassis developed in part by Lotus, No, it is just him fighting ten cylinders and chassis that could be ranked at best average. Brilliant driving on the part of that man and i hope Vipers will start selling like they used to again. I know that in Japan, the Chevrolet Corvette is sold as its own brand of car. With the financial woes of Chrysler LLC now, i hope they make more of that push to insure the Viper lives on.

^Exactly what I'm thinking. You have to work to keep an ACR on the track, and I mean work for it. 99% of the people on here, including me, would be completely hopeless pushing that thing at full power around a track.

If you look at that list the GT-R and C6 z06 vette are the only 2 cars that cost less than 100k from factory...consider how much more the viper acr costs than the gt-r and it only laps it 7 secs quicker...especially when the gt-r is in it's 1st model year of production, and the spec v isn't even out yet... O yeah, wheres honda on that list?

You really are a tool. You come into my threads and get owned EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Do you ever get tired of being such an idiot. I actually consider myself pretty civil compared to the rest of the people on this forum but i just cant resist the opportunity to trashed upon you since you make it so easy.

I remember i told you when you first got on go learn something before you post what ever. Stop being such a tool. Coming over here with some damn Maxima preaching the word of the GTR. I have driven real cars before and i've done it on the track, so what ever i say comes form fact or personal experience. You just like to shoot the sh!t out your mouth.

Ok Nissan, keep your precious GTR. You can criticize the cost but an ACR Viper is SO MUCH BETTER. PULL THE GTR NISSAN SHOVED UP YOUR ASS OUT OF THERE AND REALIZE THIS IS A REAL CAR. This guy doesn't need the car to drive for him, that is how a real man's car works. I'm not downing the GTR, but no need to get all butt hurt over something beating it. Point out price as much as you want, anyone with a nutsack would take an ACR over a GTR hands down.

Ive always been a viper fan... but im still a gtr fan as of now.. out of all 3 zr1-acr-gtr im in the bunch.

i think some have forgotten the characteristics of these cars, the ZR1-Viper-GTR, all which had to be there in order for them to succeed.

At the end when the dust settles, the ACR-ZR1-Vspec will all be around the same price.

wonder how much of this is a publicity stunt to raise the asking price for the Viper name and legacy since Chrysler is looking to sell the brand.

How do you make sense out of that? Of course this is something Chrysler should yell at the top of their advertising power.

This is the supreme record for street cars, Publicity stunts are for politicians. Ring times are a measure of world acclaim respect .

Running that time at the Ring is anything but a publicity stunt. As much as I have hated Chrysler lately, they did it right with this. They built a car for racing purists, and they did a damn good job. That time wasn't given, it was earned. I would love to see an explanation as to how that would be just a publicity stunt, when they just tore apart the competition that had all but forgotten them.

...lol you guys are idiots...You guys really like talking ****. I would def take the Gt-R over a any viper, whether the viper is faster or not. I just like GT-R's. I could care less about having the fastest car out there, because I don't have a small **** to compensate for. Simon and EJ, you guys try to act so smart and badass on here. If you guys really want to talk ****, let's meet up and handle this. I hate mother****ers with napolean complex's. You guys are the dumbass's, I'm just giving my opinion, you're the ones getting upset because I like the GT-R...Why does it bother you so much I like the GT-R? BTW the viper is ugly as ****...

Instead of pointless banter. I want you to prove what you say.

    *How am I an Idiot?

    *Where am i talking ****?

*So the guy driving the Viper around the Ring has a small penis?

*So you are proposing "meeting" up about an internet debate?

*I like the GT-R, I already said i do, so why would it bother me you like it?
Nothing bothers me, it's that as a forum member i can post whatever opinion i want and, when i bring facts over your opinions, can usually prove you wrong.

If your "opinion" is false cause facts say it is wrong, it is a disproven theory.

i'd like to see what it could do with a bit of re-gearing. impressive none the less, piloting any high powered car around the ring has got to be the ultimate rush.

    Uh oh, Echo! lol

This thread is here to talk about the Viper and it being the fastest around the track. If this thread were talking about ''what car you like a lot but isn't the fastest car'', you would fit right in. Geez, stfu and go make your own thread where you can make up useless sht.

I obviously don't have a small ****, I have the balls to drive a Miata. And laugh at gay comments. If I had a small **** i'd probably drive something like a GTR.

Its a mans car....I mean a real mans car, not like a gay ass skyline metrosexual mans car....but like a hairy chested, thick necked, 400 plus pound bench press kind of mans car. Its a car that takes skill to drive you don't just point it in the general direction you want to go and stand on the gas like you do with the GTR. You actually have to put some thought into driving it. You turn it in and ask it politely if it wouldn't mind if you went around this turn quickly...sometimes it say yes sometimes it says no...and when it says no you grab it with your big ass man arms and you tell it listen here you are going to fukking go where I tell you and your going to like it.....then it crashes you into a wall and you go backward through the pearly gates in a fireball.....yes its that kind of ****ing cool.

You shouldn't even be allowed to mention the gtr in the same breath as the Viper or the Corvette for that matter.
